Doula Care
Doula Care
Every family deserves to feel supported, informed, and cared for as they welcome a baby. Through Strong Start Babies & Beyond, Family Tree Nurturing Center offers free, compassionate doula services to families in Billings and the surrounding community. We provide a caring, judgment-free space for your questions, honor your choices, and walk alongside you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
During pregnancy, our doulas offer prenatal visits, birth planning, labor education, and support as you prepare for your baby. During labor and birth, we provide emotional support, comfort measures, and encouragement, helping you feel confident expressing your needs and preferences. Our care centers on your goals and works alongside the support you receive from your healthcare team.
Our support continues after birth with postpartum check-ins, emotional support, respite care, and connections to community resources. We also offer compassionate care for families navigating recovery, pregnancy or infant loss, and difficult or unexpected experiences. Wherever you are in your journey, we meet you with respect and help you build on your strengths.
What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained (ours are licensed) support person who walks alongside you during pregnancy, birth, and after your baby arrives. A doula listens, answers questions, helps you prepare, and offers encouragement and comfort. During labor, this might include helping you find comfortable positions, using breathing and relaxation techniques, and supporting you as you communicate your wishes to your healthcare team.
Doulas do not provide medical care or replace your doctor, midwife, or nurse. They add another layer of personal support for you and your family. After birth, a doula can check in on how you’re doing, offer practical support, and help you connect with resources. You do not need to have a particular birth plan to benefit from a doula—support is shaped around your needs and choices.
